Co-Founders

Meet the co-founders of the World Alpagut Federation: Vasif Namazov (Kutsan), founder of Alpagut Turan Martial Art, and Farid Alizade.

The two people who established the World Alpagut Federation in 2014.

Years of research by Vasif Namazov led to the creation of the Alpagut Turan Martial Art. The new sport now needed an institution to develop it.

At the end of 2013 in Baku, Vasif Namazov, the founder of the art, decided to establish the World Alpagut Federation. He presented the initiative to the coaches around him and to the leadership of the Turkic Martial Art Centre, which he headed. His close friend and associate, the businessman Farid Alizade, was among the first to support it.

Steps were then taken to create an international organisation. The Federation was established in Georgia, with Vasif Namazov and Farid Alizade as its co-founders. For the registration, the Georgian citizens Mushfig Aliyev and Faig Mammadov also joined the founding documents. On 12 February 2014 the Federation was officially registered as a non-profit legal entity, and the Board elected Farid Alizade its first President.

This was a planned transition. Farid Alizade saw the organisation through its founding and first steps, then stepped down so that it could pass to a broader leadership. On 12 January 2015, less than a year after registration, he and the entire executive resigned.

On 18 March 2015 an extraordinary congress was convened at the Atatürk Centre in Baku. It elected Nizami Jafarov, a member of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan, as President, and Vasif Namazov became a member of the Board. Farid Alizade was declared Honorary President of the Federation.

At the congress of 30 August 2022, Vasif Namazov was elected Chairman of the Board.
