Vasif Namazov (KUTSAN) is the founder of Alpagut Turan Martial Art, a co-founder of the World Alpagut Federation and the Chairman of its Board.
Vasif Namazov began training in Sumgait in 1992. He boxed from 1992 to 1994 and trained in Kyokushin karate from 1995 to 1998, alongside judo and sambo. From 2002 he trained in Ashihara karate, Enshin karate, Tsu Shin Gen, Sayokan and mixed martial arts, and chaired an oriental martial arts club in Sumgait.
After international seminars in Russia in 2004 and 2006, he was appointed the official representative of the Tsu Shin Gen International Association in Azerbaijan. In 2010 the Sumgait City Sports Department awarded him the title of Master of Sports in combat sports.
From 2000 to 2002 he served in the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan in the front-line zone, as head instructor in hand-to-hand combat for his unit.
He graduated from Sumgait State Technical College in accounting and audit (2006) and from the Faculty of Physical Education of Kalmyk State University (2020).
In 2008 he began researching the martial traditions of the Turkic peoples. In 2011 several clubs in Azerbaijan united under his leadership as the Turkic Martial Art Centre, where he developed a number of combat systems.
In 2014 this work took its final form as Alpagut Turan Martial Art: a training and examination programme, competition rules for five disciplines (Aycha, Batur, Caymaz, Gurshak and Kachut) and a self-defence system. The name Alpagut is an old Turkic warrior title, and the terminology of the sport draws on historical Turkic vocabulary.

He co-founded the World Alpagut Federation, registered in Georgia on 12 February 2014, and chairs its Board. He was re-elected Chairman on 30 August 2022.
He has served as chief referee or competition director at every World Alpagut Championship, from Baku 2018 to Bursa 2025, and has led the Federation's international seminars as chief instructor in Türkiye, India, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Iraq. In October 2017 he presented Alpagut at the founding congress of the World Ethnosport Confederation in Istanbul.
From 2017 to 2022 he was Secretary General of the Azerbaijan Association of Combat Sports Federations (ADFA). He is First Vice-President of the International Turan Games Committee.
