This is a martial art that has a deep philosophical meaning and mystery, which organizes the access of the ethnic nomadic Turkic warrior culture to the world sports culture.

This concept of martial arts, embodying ethnocultural and multicultural philosophy, forms in children a sense of national pride, respect and love for the motherland, the state, as well as friendship and friendly relations between peoples.

“ALPAGUT” – WHAT IT MEANS? ??

First source: In the Turkic dictionary written by Mahmud Kashgari in Baghdad in the 11th century (Divani Lüğati Türk), it is explained as follows: – “A hero who fights the enemy alone and is never defeated. The name of the sport comes from this book.

In a general sense, the meaning of this word in ancient times:

ALP: a brave warrior showing bravery, a warrior like a wolf, a word used in the sense of a brave and strong person who is considered a knight, fighter, powerful, dear and respected.

GUT: Kut, that is, the word used in the sense of holy, blessed, saint, valuable.


Alpagut as a sport

Alpaqut turan martial art is registered as a sport in the Republic of Azerbaijan with all legal procedures. The name “Alpagut” belonging to the cultural heritage of the ancient Turkic peoples living in the great steppe, with the official permission document of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated October 14, 2014, the author of this martial art, Nomadic and Turkic martial arts researcher, international sports master, It was given to the use of Kutsan Namazov Vasif Imran oghlu.

At the same time, the State Patent Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan issued Patent Certificate No. 201400542 dated 11/17/2014. In addition, the methodological materials developed for the training and teaching of Alpagut martial arts have been approved by the Copyright Law of 04/10/2015, 04/C-8157-15.

In order to develop this sport in the international arena, the World Alpagut Federation was registered as an international organization on February 12, 2014, according to the document Identification Number: 434162041.


What Makes Alpagut Martial Art Unique?

1. Embodies the monotheistic philosophy of the ancient Turkics and nomads in the great steppe called Gök Tengri;

  • Gök Tengri is the all-encompassing God of Heaven in the traditional Turkic, Yeniseian, Mongolic, and various other nomadic peoples religious beliefs. Tengri is not considered a deity in the usual sense, He is considered the embodiment of the Universe as a whole. However, some qualities associated with Tengri as the judge and source of life, and being eternal and supreme, led European and Muslim writers to identify Tengri as a deity of Nomadic Turkic peoples.

2. Represents exotic steppe culture and values;

 

3. There is a form of clothing called “Chapan“, which belongs to the style of the ancient nomadic warrior, distinguished by its special appearance;

  • Chapan is an indispensable part of men’s clothing. A bright square scarf made of cotton or silk fabric, folded at an angle – a belt that is tied around the waist – completes the outfit. In ancient times, nomad Turkic could determine their status by their clothing. The outfit indicated class and marital status. The Turkics have always been very fond of robes – thick and insulated, with long sleeves. In such clothes it is warm, comfortable to walk and ride a horse. Bloomers are used as pants. Clothes could be decorated in a variety of ways. Despite its simplicity, this clothing is distinguished by colors and embroidery among all Turkic peoples, especially among the Uzbeks.

The norms  specified in each stage are determined by the belts, and the belt colors are applied to the side colors. As it shown on the picture:

9. Four point system named «SARGUT», «ACHAR», «UTKU», «GINAG» ;

The Referee program consists of five fighting systems, the ring line of the Wolf and the Berkut.  The scores refers to Sargut > Achar > Utku scores and Penalty points are applied with Gynag score.
